Dogs – New Born Puppy Feeding
May 26, 2010 by carolynw602
A Mother dog should care for her puppy’s and give them food, and what they need. In some cases however you may need to help.
The mother’s milk has all the nutrient that the puppys need. So in order to give the puppys that nutrients through bottle feeding, you need Commercial milk. As you vet how do it, because incorrect bottle feeding can do harm.
Cows milk can cause digest issues.

Shedding – cats
May 17, 2010 by carolynw602
Ahhh, it’s summer and you can’t wait to looses you winter coat. So does your outdoor cat. They shed more in the spring. Indoor cats shed all year round. Either way shedding is natural. You looses some hair sometimes, so does your cat. Brushing you cat will help get the fur out.
Excessive Shedding
Tis can be caused by:
Allergies
Ringworm
Bactrica
Stress
Poor diet
Sunburn ( Yes, cats can get sunburn)
Hair Balls
Hair balls occur when a cat is not groomed enough. They can be prevented! So groom your cat and you will not get hair balls.
You can read more about grooming in my post http://carolynw602.edublogs.org/2010/01/22/cats-grooming/

Guinea Pig Fun House
May 6, 2010 by carolynw602
Does your guinea pig need a way to exercise? Well I have a way to build up mussels, and get those piggys active.
My friend Alyssa and I mad a cardboard house for our Pogo and Spotty. It has a small ramp with foot holds, so they do not slip. We also have cut several holes on the sides so that they can escape several ways. We also have a hole in the top, to so that they can poke their heads out. As for light, a few pencil holes in the side should just about do it.
We chose card board, so that they can chew on it, and we also put in card board tunnels.
You can find Alyssa’s blog at http://alysat2016.edublogs.org/
Thanks

Dogs- Cancer
April 21, 2010 by carolynw602
Did you know that dog can get cancer as well as humans, It is hard to find out some one we love has cancer, weather they be human, or dog.
Signs of cancer in dogs
lumps
swelling
difficult breathing
black stool
sudden loss in apatite, and mass loss if weight.
Diagnosis
When you take you dog to the vet, with the suspicion that they have cancer the vet might do a few different things. If your dog has a lump, the vet may take out a small tissue sample, and have it cheeked for cancer.
Prevention
Did you know, that dogs can get breast cancer, just like humans? Well they can, but it can be avoided. If you get your female dog spayed before her first heat cycle, then you can almost be sure that your dog will not have breast cancer. Some people also believe that adding antioxidants to your dogs diet may help them prevent cancer, but it is not a proven fact
Remember, If you even have the slightest clue that you dog has cancer, talk to the vet A.S.A.P.

Green anole
April 16, 2010 by carolynw602
Many people have never heard of a green anole. They are small green lizards.
They are more tropical animals. They need a high humidity. Providing real live plants will help with this. Also misting the tank 2 – 3 times a day is key.
Diet
Green anoles are insectivores. The main part of their diet should be crickets. Meal worms can also be good diet. Green anoles will in most cases not drink from a water bowl. By misting the tank, the live plants should get water to collect on their leaves. The green anoles will then lick the water off of the leaves.
Heat
They need a heat lamp.

Dogs paw care
March 24, 2010 by carolynw602
You love your dog. You will do anything to keep him/her healthy one thing that you should check often are your dogs paws. Summer is a great time for your dog to get exercise outside, but if you are not safe, you could really hurt your dog.
One thing that you should watch out for is hot pavement. This can burn your dogs paws. To regulate what is to hot and what is ok, think of this, if it is to hot for you, it is too hot for your dog.
Also check to make sure that your dog does not have anything wedged up between his/her toes.
Dogs pads, believe it or not, can become dry and cracked. This can be bad, so you should moisturize your dogs paws. Ask your vet for a good DOG moisturizer. Human moisturizers can soften the pads, you use DOG moisturizer.
One thing that dogs often get are cuts. Inf the cut is less that 1 half of an inch in diameter, then you can clean it, and bandage it your self. For biggest cuts, ask your vet for help.
I hope that now, you will keep your dog safe.
